Every Time It Rains I Know It's Good To Feel Alive

Valentines Day is almost here. That means I can wear all the PINK I want!

So all of you that are worried about being lonely tomorrow I have a cure that can fix all sorrow and broken hearts. What is this ah-MAZING remedy you ask? Well in case you cant guess... Its fashion.
Yes, fashion cures everything. If a man cant make you happy, I promise beautiful clothes will. They're always there for you and will never leave your side. And they always compliment your natural beauty and make you feel pretty. Always.

Red Roses. Can you say 'cliche' ??

I usually avoid taking pictures in front of my house, not for privacy reasons, but for the mere fact that i try not to embrace the idea of being stuck in Suburbia. But this week is one of the worst weeks all year because I'm CONSTANTLY logging on to style.com to check all the fall collections posted. So while Marc Jacobs and Max Azira are launching beautiful collections on the best known runway in America, I'm stuck here. In Suburbia. Yay...
So while all the single people in the world decide not to get out of bed tomorrow, I think I'll take part in their mourning. Not because I'm single and I hate Valentines Day, but because I'm sitting at home while the rest of the fashion world is oo-ing and ah-ing over all the ah-mazing collections being revealed.
Its okay. I'm their in spirit.
Yours Truly,
Sammie

French Kisses. WISH I WAS IN NY FOR FASHION WEEK.

I'd like to thank my lovely photographer, the one and only, Emma Banks. I don't know anyone else who would get up at the crack of dawn with on our day off, in below freezing weather to have a photoshoot.

Day of Mourning

Spring 2009
Ummm... Yeah.
McQueen at his Spring 2009 show
His last but certainly not least...
Fall 2010

Spring 2001

Fall2009

The fashion community has been robbed of one of the most influential designers of our time today, Alexander McQueen. McQueen took his own life this morning. Was it the stress? Was it the grief of his recently passed mother?
McQueen was scheduled to open at Bryant Park today for the kick off of New York Fashion Week. His show was quickly canceled after his death went public.

His spirit will be with us throughout the next seven days as designers present their collections all week long. I'll have updates and photos of the best shows.
RIP McQueen.

Snow In Suburbia?

Texas got LEIGIT snow this morning. I missed my English class so I could snap some quick pics before all the little children got home and messed it up.

Love...

...does not even begin to describe it.

It was supposedly the most snow the Dallas area has ever gotten. Maybe we'll have a white Christmas AND a white Valentines day??
Sorry this post is short. School is canceled tomorrow so Thursday night is in fact Friday night. More pictures later!!
XOXO Sammie

The Starting Place

"Fashion is architecture." -Coco Chanel
Ahhh spoken like a true Fashion Guru. Ever wonder where fashion designers get there inspiration? We all know you can be inspired by anything around you. The car we drive. The shoes we walk in. The building we work in. The house we live in. The bed we sleep in. Is it the little details of everyday life that impact us the most?
Fashion has been around as long as humans have existed. Over time it has developed into one of the largest industries. Whether we like it or not we are affected by fashion everyday. In today's consumer world, fashion is an essential, a necessity, almost a born right.
But if we were to think that fashion is the only form of art out there, we'd be very mistaken. We often tend to overlook things that hold great potential and beauty. Look up. Have you ever noticed the beauty of the building you walk into everyday, while holding your Styrofoam cup of coffee? Perhaps this was the source of inspiration or the basis of a new idea or the foundation of an artists motivation. Or maybe it was the starting place of a lifetime legacy..

Seeing the connection?

Here are some pieces from this spring that ring true to architectural inspirations. Their source just might not be as clear and straight forward.
