The Starting Place

"Fashion is architecture." -Coco Chanel
Ahhh spoken like a true Fashion Guru. Ever wonder where fashion designers get there inspiration? We all know you can be inspired by anything around you. The car we drive. The shoes we walk in. The building we work in. The house we live in. The bed we sleep in. Is it the little details of everyday life that impact us the most?
Fashion has been around as long as humans have existed. Over time it has developed into one of the largest industries. Whether we like it or not we are affected by fashion everyday. In today's consumer world, fashion is an essential, a necessity, almost a born right.
But if we were to think that fashion is the only form of art out there, we'd be very mistaken. We often tend to overlook things that hold great potential and beauty. Look up. Have you ever noticed the beauty of the building you walk into everyday, while holding your Styrofoam cup of coffee? Perhaps this was the source of inspiration or the basis of a new idea or the foundation of an artists motivation. Or maybe it was the starting place of a lifetime legacy..

Seeing the connection?

Here are some pieces from this spring that ring true to architectural inspirations. Their source just might not be as clear and straight forward.
