The Sky and the Streets

In todays world of instant informality and less than perfect manners, ballet provides an oasis of true courtesy and dignity.

Today such few people can actually understand and appreciate the classic arts. I need the classic arts to breath. Especially ballet. Ballet is both athletic and artistic. It teaches you grace and poise. It is about strength, delicacy, lyricism, and expressivity. With out it I'd be lost.
Em took these pics with her new camera this weekend. At three in the morning with nothing else to do you have a photo shoot. Or at least that's what we do...

I'm no Anna Pavlova but I try:)

Cigarettes and Lavendar Perfume

My sister got me this necklace for Christmas last year because she thought it looked like a Juicy Couture necklace. But its really a $6 replica from Claire's. Oh they learn so young...

I wasn't kidding when I told you these boots were my new obsession. I wore them to school all day for the first time, During class I would just sit there and admire them and while I did I came up with a plot: When I graduate and get accepted to a fashion school in NY (hopefully!!), the day I move into my apartment I'm going to wear these boots, and braid my hair in pigtails, and wear multiple layers of plaid, all while blasting my Taylor Swift CD. Oh my roommates are gonna love me...

Story time! Okay so this sweater, my great grandmother hand knit it for my grandma when she was my age. She was a talented knitter and made several great pieces of clothing throughout her life, and now that she's passed away, I am the proud owner of two of them.
Except I'm having a hard time getting the scent of cigarette smoke and violent lavender perfume out...

Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2010

Marc Jacobs collection Marc (by Marc Jacobs, in case you live under a rock) is going to be catching many eyes this spring. With flashy colors, bold prints, and over sized bows, you can't miss it.

The Bold Shoulder... a trend from fall that still lives on.
I love the juxtaposition of the over feminine bows with the menswear pants and shoes. (Below) You seem to see this all over lookbook these days. And maybe walking down the streets of Manhattan... but I wouldn't know. Here in Suburbia we'd be arrested for looking this cute.
Designers are always searching for the next big thing. They seek inspiration form not only fashion forecasters, other designers and artists, but from you. Yes, that's right. They watch to see what the modern woman is wearing and design their collections based on what they see. Hmm.. you think Mr. Jacobs reads lookbook??

I'm especially excited for these cartoon-like bows. Karlie looks beautiful in her royal blue one back stage before the show.

Game Over.

Emma and I had a photo shoot downtown. Now normally I can hold a serious face for a good amount of time, but not today. Also, it was 38 degrees outside and we had no where do outfit changes. The combination of the three of these made for an interesting photo shoot...
Oh and my inspirations... Audry Hepburn. But she's pretty much my inspiration for waking up in the morning.

Okay so one thing. I'm an aspiring to be in the fashion business. NOT a cosmetician. Please ignore the make-up and hair. Focus on the clothes until further notice.
The Red Lip Stick (Opulent Red, Estee Lauder) was a surprise. I found it in my pocket in the middle of the shoot and used my reflection in my car window as a mirror.

It was really Emma's fault I couldn't stop giggling.

Awww look. She can model too! (This is Emma my photographer; http://www.thestylesnapshot.com/)

That was our last photo shoot of 2009!
Hello 2010.
